What is a sacramental*?
Water, rosaries, crucifixes, medals and candles become sacramentals through a blessing given by a priest, which dedicates them for holy purposes and allows them to convey God's grace and blessings. Without this blessing, they do not hold the spiritual benefits associated with sacramentals. Sacramentals play an important role in the spiritual life of Catholics, enhancing their relationship with God and the Church. (A sacramental is a sacred object and at the end of its use it is to be buried in the ground or burnt.)

Why do Traditionalists refrain from praying the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary?
Traditional Catholics often refrain from praying the Luminous Mysteries (introduced in 2002) because they view them as a recent addition not part of the original Rosary given by Our Lady to St. Dominic in 1214, and they prefer to adhere to the traditional Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries.
Some traditionalists view the addition of the Luminous Mysteries as an unwarranted alteration to a long-standing practice. They believe that such changes undermine the integrity of the Rosary and the traditions associated with it.
There is a belief among some that while the Pope has the authority or the good intention to make changes, it may not be morally right to alter a devotion that has deep historical roots and significance. The emphasis on devotion to the original mysteries given by the Blessed Mother, believing that these should remain unchanged until directed otherwise by her.
Virtual Apps
Among the Catholic youths of today who are inclined to use apps may find it a more convenient alternative when physical beads are considered “old fashioned” or are not available. Many Apps offer audio versions, illustrations, and guided prayers, which can enrich the prayer experience.
Both methods can enhance one's prayer experience and spiritual connection, depending on individual circumstances. But bear in mind apps are not sacramentals.
