A Prayer of Affection and petition.

Divine help comes for the asking, and prayer will bring us the power to do that which we cannot do of ourselves.

This is the way the Saints acted: they fled to God for help, and with that help they conquered in the midst of torments and persecutions.

My God, I know full well that without suffering, and suffering with patience, I can never reach the glory of paradise.

David once said, “My patience is from Him.” This is what I say too: the patience that I need to suffer must be your gift to me. With it I propose to accept in peace tribulations of every kind. But you know that, in spite of this, as soon as they come I am saddened and alarmed; and when I suffer, I often suffer without merit and without love; and all this is because I do not know how to suffer in order to give joy to you. O my Jesus, this is the gift I want; through the merits of your patience, in suffering so much for the love of me, give me the grace to bear my crosses for the love of you.

​O my dear Redeemer, I do love you, I love you with all my heart. My highest good, I do love you. O my love, I do love you; you, who are worthy of a love that knows no bounds.

I grieve over the way I have offended you, more than I grieve over any other evil. Now I promise that I will suffer in patience every trial that you may send me. But it is to you that I look for the help to fulfil this resolution; and especially, to suffer in peace the pains of my last agony and death.

Mary, my Queen, this is what I want you to ask for me; true resignation in suffering during the rest of my life and in death.
